Last week I hurt myself for the first time in years while weightlifting. I was doing squats, and apparently hadn't stretched enough, because on my second set, I experienced a significant strain in rising with the weight back to standing position. My back felt an immediate burning sensation, and caused me to shorten my overall workout. Over the subsequent several days it subsided, until last night. I was walking around without shoes, something that usually hurts my back because of the large arches in my feet. Anyways, I began experiencing pretty terrible back pain. It felt like someone was pushing their knuckle into the small of my back, directly over the spine, as hard as they could.
I have never felt anything like this before. It hurt to do any movement at all. I couldn't even bend over and touch my ankles, any movement was excrutiating.
I woke up this morning and still felt the pain. I could barely put on my shoes this morning, I literally couldn't bend down to place them on my feet. I forced myself to sit in an extremely hot bath for 1.5 hours, and do some stretching. Since then the pain has subsided.
I guess I am having back spasms. I probably strained my lower back muscle doing the squats, and walking barefoot yesterday set it off?
Anyways, I feel like an old person. I can't believe I actually hurt myself at the gym. If the pain doesn't go away within a few days, I will go to the doctor. For now I am hoping that just resting will make it feel better.

I hate to say it, but I think it is definitely back cancer.
What you need are some muscle relaxants and one of those "home alone" buzzer things. in case you fall. the life alert 6000. I'm sure they have one that is exactly like your street fighter controller with chun-li or barack's face on it and his nose is the button.
Yikes. That sucks. Hope it gets better.
poor baby.... i always knew exercise was bad for you... that's why i never do it.
