Little Big Planet!

One week ago Melissa and I got a new game, or more specifically, we were able to sign up for the beta test for an upcoming new game, Little Big Planet.

This is one of the coolest games I have ever seen. Basically, imagine Super Mario Bros., but then imagine that you have the ability to create your own levels in the game, using a huge array of tools and gadgets to create vehicles, airplanes, traps, enemies, etc. Then, you can upload these levels you create to the Little Big Planet servers, and other people can then rate and play the games you create.

Already in less than a week, hundreds of awesome levels have been created, some of which boggle my mind with the amount of creativity and depth in their design. There is a ranking system which lets the best levels get identified, and allegedly in the near-future you will be paid if the levels you design become popular and are played by a lot of people, similar to web-click advertising.

This video is a basic introduction to the game. If this thing is marketed properly, I could see this being the 'hot' item this Christmas. This is the coolest idea for a game I have seen in a long time.
