Since beginning my internship at the Department of Justice; I have already learned a ton of information about Bankruptcy litigation. I have also learned that my precious eyes will probably fall out of my head within a few years.
This internship, along with other legal research I am doing, has made me appreciate how much of a lawyer's job consists of staring at a book or computer screen all day, scanning for pieces of information.
Last week I spent an entire day reviewing initial Ch.7 Bankruptcy filings, submitted to the DOJ by either the debtor personally, or the debtor's attorney. I was looking through each application trying to spot 'red flags.' It was sort of interesting, but mostly it just hurt my eyes. I hope they make improvements to Lasic eye surgery, because I will probably need the procedure within a few years. I can feel my eyes get worse by the day..
