Last night Melissa and I finally lept into the 21st century, and purchased a 32 inch, 720p, HDTV. I finally wore her down, after literally two years of constant, non-stop talk of how much an HDTV would enrich our lives.
I was unsure which HDTV to get. It's practically impossible to pick one out, once you walk into Best Buy you lose all sense of perspective, there are 3,000 different HDTVs on display, and you quickly get so warped in your perception of them that anything less than the 1080i resolution 60inch model looks cheap and disgusting. In order to even get to the cheap 32inch models you have to make the 'walk of shame' past all of the nicer, more expensive models, telling employees every couple of feet you are "only looking for the little ones!!" Luckily I resisted the temptation to go crazy, and instead settled on the reasonably priced Dynex 32inch 720p model. I almost didn't want to buy it because it looked so puny next to the larger screen models. Of course, though, once we got home and set it up, it is actually enormous compared to our last tv, and the resolution is so amazing, especially while playing XBOX 360 on actual 720 display, I kept pausing Halo 3 to just to look at the screen, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It also has a built-in HD tuner, so we are able to pick up the basic networks in HD 16:9 aspect wide-screen glory.
As you can see, our 'pet,' a paper cutout of a cockatiel bird, also made the jump to HDTV. It has been sitting on top of our tv for the last year and a half, so we decided to continue the tradition and have him live underneath this tv as well.

Awesome! I know what you mean about going and looking at all the dirrerent sizes and qualities of tv. It is depressing! But boy does that tv look awesome! I bet your zebra spandex pants look awesome on that screen!
