New York City - Day 1

Melissa and I are in New York City for a few days. We tried something new this time. We took a Greyhound bus from Syracuse to Manhattan. It was actually a very enjoyable experience. Melissa read and I studied for 5 hours, then all the sudden we were in Manhattan.

After departing the bus in the Port Authority terminal, we walked 5 blocks to our hotel, the Wyndham on 34th Street. I suppose its due to the crap economy, but this is an extremely nice hotel for the dirt cheap price we are paying.

Last night after unpacking we took a stroll down 9th avenue. Our hotel is in Chelsea, an area of Manhattan we haven't been previously. We concluded this is probably our favorite part of NYC. Everything is clean, it has a fairly normal feel, you don't feel claustrophobic walking around Chelsea like you do in Midtown or the Financial District. There is also a very high percentage of extremely fashionable and well dressed young people, and babies. Everywhere you look is someone with a rad outfit on, or a cute baby in a stroller.

We ate at a delicious Thai restaurant. It was cheap, the food was amazing, and the decor was cool. Then we stopped by a cupcake bakery on our way back to the hotel. Today we are going to Brooklyn to scope out the scene and try to get a feel for the apartment living arrangements, then head over to Roosevelt Island to do the same. After that its off to Rockefeller Center; the new Gameboy is out in stores today, and sadly... I want to go to the Nintendo flagship store to buy one.

Basically, we need to live here. This place is heaven.
