Melissa's Powerful Connections

Apparently there are perks to working as an assistant to a College Dean, as Melissa is discovering. Namely, the opportunity to mingle with some famous people.

As we ate dinner last night, Melissa casually mentioned that she had recently spoken on the phone with William Safire. Melissa said he was friendly. I told her to call him back to tell him her husband has some good material for his next Meet The Press appearance.

In addition, Melissa has also exchanged emails with Joyce Carol Oates , among others.

Now we just have to figure out a way of capitalizing on Melissa's unique job position, namely by asking every famous person she deals with if they are interested in hiring a plucky, young, and moderately well-dressed attorney. I am not sure what I could do for any of these people, but why worry about those kinds of details?
