RROD

There was a funny Onion article a few months ago title Local Trailer Park Shatters No Stereotypes. This morning my XBOX 360 yet again red-ringed, aka: died. The XBOX 360 is a notoriously crappy piece of hardware. In fact, Microsoft last year had to take a two billion dollar loss in earnings when they announced the company would extend the warranty plan on all XBOX 360s for three years in order to avoid class action lawsuits, after an independent report claimed the 360 has a 40%+ failure rate. This is the second 360 I have had break. The three year extended warranty expires this fall, after which I think someone would be crazy to keep this ticking time-bomb of garbage. I have decided to sell my 360 once Microsoft sends me a new one, and purchase a reliable, Japanese game system; the Playstation 3.

This is funny when thought about in relation to the Onion article. You constantly hear American companies defending their products, claiming the stereotype that foreign products are more reliable is a 'myth.' Yet here I am; I have a choice of 3 video game systems to buy. Two of them are Japanese and almost never break. One of them is American made and breaks so much that the xbox website has a special hotline where you can call in and within 4 minutes schedule a UPS pickup of the dead system.

In other news I went in for the second part of my root canal yesterday. Once again I am in horrible pain. The humanity....
