Is This Movie Necessary?

At the mall last week, I couldn't quite figure out why the movie theatre had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles poster hanging on the wall. Then it hit me; they are making another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie. I have only one question. Why? Is this franchise still popular with kids? A few weeks ago I watched an episode of GI Joe on Saturday morning, and I couldn't believe how terrible it was. The cartoon managed to take the original concept of GI Joe and throw in so many different and unrelated cliche's on top of the original story that in the climax scene of the episode, the GI Joe soldiers were dressed as ninjas, had robotic-like powers, and were flying around a Latin American temple.
