Mario giving PS3 the ol' Prison Shiv

I have found a perfect example of why life in America is infinitely better than it would have been in the USSR. Sony announced today they are cutting the price of the Playstation 3, which was originally slated to sell for around $300,000. This article from the Financial Times alluded to Sony's move being brought on by the resurgance of Nintendo, who's Wii console is generating a huge amount of buzz, and will cost less than half of the PS3. According to the latest video game consumer sentiment polls (yes, they have those) the Nintendo Wii is the 'hot item' in the minds of would be consumers, so now Sony has to react. Apparantly Microsoft's plan of releasing their console ahead of time is paying off in terms of volume sold, even though by jumping the gun it will forever be technically inferior to the PS3. Now if only NEC, Sega, Atari and Intellivision could each develop a new console, we could get to a point where new systems cost only $50 and the President of the respective company would write you a personal thank you card for buying their unit.

I want a Wii, the problem is I don't really like video games anynore. Nintendo has shown alot of forethought trying to engage older and younger game players. As opposed to MS and Sony fighting after the pimpled faced 14-26 year old males.
