For those of you who have not seen Loose Change, you need to. Normally I do not consider myself to be much of a conspiracy theory type person, but the prospects of a 9-11 conspiracy are quite tantalizing. To me the most fascinating aspect of a 9-11 conspiracy is it's tabboo nature. With most conspiracies, be it JFK's assasination, UFO's, secret bar codes and the CIA, etc., people are not treated with hostility when they mention them. However, I have noticed that even broaching the notion of a 9-11 conspiracy genuinely makes people angry.
While we may never know the true story behind 9-11, people should realize that certain things, such as the group Project for a New American Century are not just fictitious things nuts talk about like some chupacabra, the Project for a New American Century is a very real organization, and some of their previous statements are quite disturbing when one views them in the context of 9-11. For example, PNAC issued a manifesto in 2000 arguing that America needed to increase military spending, and that a strong military was necessary in order to retain America's place in the world as the primary hegemonic power. Unfortunately, they argued, the American public would not tolerate such dramatic increases in military spending unless there was a new "Pearl Harbor type event" which would catalyze public opinion in favor of increasing military spending.

While I cannot say whether I actually believe in a 9-11 conspiracy, large or small, I can say that the loose change movie, the PNAC manifesto, and the conspiracy related articles which surface from time to time have some pretty damn disturbing things in them. Refusing to read about or watch at least some of these articles or videos does not make one a more Patriotic American, it simply makes you ignorant. In school professors will have students read a 40 page article about some theory only to inform the class a week later that the theory is long since discredited. It is only by examining all sides of an issue that one comes to truly understand their own position. If an idea cannot be subjected to rigorous scrutiny, it is probably not a worthwile idea to hold.

hi jimbo! today in my religion class my professor did a little "remember 911" introduction to class and was getting a bit emotional; but instead of being touched like everyone else all i could do was think of loose change and how the government planned it all......
Pretty cool, but the problem with conspiracies is where do they end. I usually follow Occam's razor, but who doesn't like a good conspiracy.
